About SEMS
The School of Earth and Mineral Sciences (SEMS) at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, is dedicated to training geoscientists and earth system specialists who understand natural processes, manage geological resources sustainably, and address environmental challenges. Our five departments provide comprehensive training in geology, geophysics, remote sensing, marine sciences, and atmospheric sciences.
With modern geophysical instruments, GIS laboratories, oceanographic equipment, meteorological stations, field camps, and expert faculty, SEMS students develop practical expertise in mineral exploration, environmental assessment, climate monitoring, and natural resource management. Our graduates are leaders in geological engineering, oil and gas exploration, environmental consulting, geospatial analysis, and climate science worldwide.
