About the Department

The Department of Entrepreneurship Technology at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) is a premier center for entrepreneurship education and innovation within the School of Logistics and Innovation Technology (SLIT). Our department is dedicated to developing creative, innovative, and self-reliant entrepreneurs capable of creating new ventures, generating employment, and driving economic growth and sustainable development.

Entrepreneurship Technology encompasses the identification, creation, and exploitation of business opportunities, combined with the qualities and skills required to start, manage, and grow new ventures. Our comprehensive curriculum covers business planning, financial management, marketing, operations management, digital entrepreneurship, innovation strategy, and enterprise development. Students develop strong entrepreneurial competencies through intensive theoretical study combined with practical business simulations, real-world case studies, and hands-on startup experiences.

The department emphasizes practical learning with modern business infrastructure including business incubation centers, startup studios, digital entrepreneurship labs, innovation hubs, and mentor networks. We maintain strong partnerships with established entrepreneurs, business organizations, investment firms, and government agencies, providing students with mentoring opportunities through SIWES and collaborative business projects. Our faculty members conduct cutting-edge research in digital entrepreneurship, startup ecosystems, business innovation, and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Our graduates are highly successful as business founders and growth leaders. Admission Requirements

UTME Requirements

  • Minimum UTME score of 140-160+
  • Subject combination: English, Mathematics, and any two others (Economics, Commerce, Accounting, Business Studies preferred)
  • Five O'Level credits in two sittings maximum
  • Credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, and any two other subjects

Direct Entry Requirements (200 Level)

  • Two A'Level passes in Economics/Commerce and Mathematics or any social science subject
  • ND/HND with upper credit or higher in Business Administration, Marketing, or Management
  • NCE with passes in relevant business-related subjects
  • Plus O'Level requirements as stated above
